Mayen Dengdit of South Sudan in Denver

Pleased to have had lunch today with David Mayen Dengdit, who recently left his post as press secretary in the South Sudanese government in protest of its human rights abuses. He has taken up temporary residence in Denver, which has a significant South Sudanese community. I learned about the current state of the peace process in South Sudan and other politics of the region. Thanks to the Conflict Resolution Institute and African Initiatives at the University of Denver for hosting the recent event where I met Mayen. He’s a man of principle and courage.
