Great panel on the Colombian peace process

Great panel at the Korbel School yesterday (cosponsored by One Earth Future) on the still-fragile Colombia peaceprocess. Speakers included Colombia’s High Commissioner for Peace Rodrigo Rivera, Gimena Sanchez of the Washington Office on Latin America, and postdoc Juliana Restrepo. Nice to bump into friends Conor Seyle and Prof. Lynn Holland and to meet Prof. (and host) Oliver Kaplan. Implementation of the accord with the FARC is still in progress, though the current government had campaigned against it. Meanwhile, negotiations with the more-radical ELN are ongoing. Mass immigration from Venezuela and increased coca production are not helping matters. Colombia needs ongoing support of the international community to consolidate peace.
